I bought a De Longhi Magnifica Super Automatic espresso machine from Starbucks about 2 years ago. I use it almost everyday and since buying it, I have descaled it usually once a month, even though the automatic descaler indicator did not warn me to do so. I was using the descaler that was sold at Starbucks not knowing that the powder was actually not good for the internal components of the machine. Eventually, the steam wand would not work and I would constantly get a message that the beans were too fine and to adjust the grinder. When I called CS, they told me to use the Durgol. Thank goodness they did! After 1 cycle of descaling and dark, dirty deposits, the steam wand was back to normal. Yeah!!! — It has my machine working again!!!

Before purchasing Durgol I read through the Amazon custmoer reviews. One person had the same espresso machine as me (Breville Cafe Roma) and the product had worked as promised. Same here. It’s great product that unclogged my espresso machine, which now brews the perfect espesso and frothy, steamed milk. The only thing I would recommend is that the instructions indicate only one time through with fresh water after decalifying is necessary. I would suggest at least twice or even three times to get all the Durgol cleaned out, and you’ll be amazed at how much stuff will still be coming out of your machine. — Durgol Decalcifier Works Like a Charm

We first came across this product as a sample included with our coffee machine purchased through Starbucks (we have a de Longhi). This was the easiest de-scale we had ever performed, so have continued to use this product for the past six months on both of our machines. The De Longhi has an automatic sensor that tells us when to descale and we keep at least 2 bottles of Durgol on hand so we are always ready. This has lead to a longer life span for our coffee machines and keeps the coffee free flowing. My wife picked this out and I have never been impressed with the electric brewers of our past. I am a nit picking pain when it comes to appliances.I was very surprised how well this thing works and makes perfect coffee each time (assuming you put in reasonable coffee) (I’m drinking a cup right now) We have had it about 1 year and if it broke tomorrow I would buy another one.

One caveat!!! As a result, I drink a lot more coffee now.

We purchased this coffee maker for our office based on many positive Amazon reviews (now unavailable). It brews excellent coffee, looks good, and pours well.

However, the clock continually resets itself — it can’t keep time for more than a couple of hours before resetting to 12 PM and counting from there. Since the clock is unreliable, the programmed-brewing feature cannot be used. And having the wrong time continually displayed (in very bright LEDs) in an office environment can only reflect poorly on the business. So we will most likely be looking for another model.

So, there seems to be alot of whining in the review column for this coffee maker. The product is fine. It works, it brews good coffee, and it only takes twenty seconds to clean the grinding section, and the thermal design is a good safety feature. Its really beyond me what the people who give it a bad review expect or are trying to accomplish. — What is all the whining about?

2 years old and mine has worked great. If you can get a deal on this maker I would recommend it. My coffee always makes it into the filter. Maybe some people use oily beans and that’s where they have the problem. I do think I was getting a hotter cup of coffee before then I am now and am going to go with a separate hopper grinder and thermal carafe coffee maker. I mean really is it so much harder to do that then have all the possibility of mechanical breakdown of the all in one units? Just look at all the refurbs available on these products.I may buy and suggest you look at Capresso they claim hot 180-200 deg. brew. It’s loud. The cleaning procedure is complex and cumbersome. BUT - I make coffee at 8 am that is still comfortably warm at 5 pm. It looks nice with my stainless steel appliances. I don’t have to grind my own beans the night before if I want to use the automatic brew feature. And, amazingly, it doesn’t drip when you pour coffee as every single coffee maker I’ve ever had in the past has done. It’s not perfect, but I like it. — Good and bad
